Lead Material Goods Volunteer

Purpose: To lead the distribution of material goods to clients and fill orders during distribution times with great customer service

Scheduling: MINIMUM THREE YEAR COMITTMENT. One weekly shift for 1 volunteer, Timing TBD, maybe weekend or evening, on-site only

Responsibilities:

In addition to responsibilities listed for a Material Goods Distribution Volunteer:

  • Train new Material Goods Distribution Volunteers
  • Ensure that items that are not acceptable are donated to other non-profits
  • Ensure that donated items that are soiled or dirty are cleaned or washed
  • If needed, shop for out of stock items at discount stores or thrift stores and submit receipts for reimbursement within a month of the charge and within the constraints of a budget
  • Work with the Front Desk Coordinator to suggest program improvements, changes/updates to: needed items list, guidelines, documents, points values or limits, types of items accepted or any limits to offered items
  • Advise the Staff Front Desk Coordinator of any clients who request exceptions to communicated guidelines

Qualifications/Critical Skills:

IN addition to qualifications and critical skills listed for a Material Goods Distribution Volunteer:

  • High ethical standards to support the volunteer team upholding communicated guidelines equitably
  • Conscientious financial management of the volunteer reimbursement process.
  • Sets an example of effective communication of God’s love to others and comfort leading prayer

Reports to:  Staff Front Desk Coordinator

Selection process:  building tour, application, job shadowing, non-patient interview, training, orientation

Orientation: confidentiality agreement, volunteer standards, statement of faith, active in apricot, upload docs, add to volunteer email list

Volunteer Online Education Class Facilitator

Purpose: To create and sustain relationships with clients that have significant and complex needs and provide them with resources, referrals and support to leverage those resources.

Scheduling: MINIMUM THREE YEAR COMITTMENT. One weekly shift for 1-2 volunteers, Timing TBD, maybe weekend or evening, on-site only, optional off-site post-proficiency 

Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage virtual class hosting via zoom video conferencing technology, including trouble shooting audio issues, recording attendance, screen sharing, accepting attendees, etc.
  • Build rapport with clients in order create a comfortable atmosphere in which clients can share their needs and build connection
  • Carefully and actively listen to client needs and take a client-led approach to prioritizing problem-solving
  • Work collaboratively with existing resources, other volunteers and staff members to effectively support clients within the parameters of available assistance and not outside of those
  • Maintain advanced familiarity with printed referrals for prenatal care, health insurance, housing, material goods, mental health support, WIC and others.
  • Provide clients with factual and accurate information, including family planning standards 
  • Follow a schedule of telephone, email or text follow-up with clients. Respond to client questions.
  • Communicate guidelines for distributing material goods and referrals and support their enforcement in an unbiased way
  • Encourage clients in positive parenting and pray with clients

Qualifications/Critical Skills:

  • A strong desire to be an effective communicator of God’s love to others & comfort with prayer
  • A willingness to learn, contribute to a peaceful work environment and work as part of a team
  • Communicate respectfully and sensitively with clients from very diverse economic, religious, language, gender and cultural backgrounds
  • A high degree of professionalism, a personable manner and the ability to closely follow instructions.
  • Compassionate and active listener who encourages autonomy and independence of our clients 
  • A commitment to expand job-relevant knowledge through written and experiential learning in an ongoing way
  • Attention to detail, punctuality, time management and reliable transportation
