Celeste’s Story

Celeste, a young woman in her 20’s, found herself facing a difficult decision. After taking Plan B and receiving positive pregnancy test results, Celeste was intending to terminate her pregnancy, so she connected with us through a Google ad and made an appointment. She felt conflicted, believing that this wasn’t the right time in her life and that it would hinder her future plans. The father of the baby, Bill, her partner of two years, assured her of his support regardless of her decision.

At Celeste’s first appointment, she was too early to confirm her pregnancy with an ultrasound. The nurse provided information and support, advising her to return for another ultrasound in about a week. Despite her uncertainties, Celeste consistently expressed deep concern for her baby’s well-being during both appointments. During the follow-up ultrasound, we confirmed her baby was alive with a strong heartbeat. However, Celeste still faced a tough decision as she dealt with overwhelming opinions and advice from those around her.

The next day, when the nurse called to discuss the doctor’s review of her ultrasound, Celeste surprised her by declaring her intention to parent her child. She explained that choosing to terminate would have left her with guilt. At the end of each appointment, we ask our patients to complete a survey. Celeste shared her feedback, highlighting the following statements: “The staff was sensitive to me and respected my beliefs.” She described our facility as being “comfortable” and expressed her strong recommendation, stating, “I would strongly recommend [Family Life Services].” 

Sometimes we can’t point to a clear reason why a mom chooses life, even after spending time with her going through all of her options. This makes it even more important for us to continue to provide love and support in a compassionate and safe environment so that even more women can benefit from our non-judgmental space and just give life a chance.
